George H. Faulkner

Mr. Faulkner, a named member of the FHP law firm, has served for the past 35 years as outside legal counsel to ERISA funds relating to benefit-related issues. Client responsibilities include but are not limited to litigation and representation of qualified employee health and welfare, pension, annuity, apprenticeship, and severance plans before all governmental agencies, and consultations to Boards of Trustees on all facets of plan design, administration, legal compliance and ERISA fiduciary obligations. 

In addition, Mr. Faulkner has extensive experience in litigation and representation of labor-related issues before the NLRB, the SERB, and in state and federal courts, including bankruptcy issues, and benefits issues under ERISA and state insurance laws.  

Mr. Faulkner is admitted to practice in all courts in the state of Illinois and the state of Ohio, including the District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is also admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado. Mr. Faulkner has degrees from Kent State University (B.A., 1973), Michigan State University (M.L.I.R., 1976) and Northern Illinois College of Law (J.D., cum laude, 1980).

Mr. Faulkner has successfully litigated cases before United States District Courts, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, as well as State Courts on behalf of employee benefit plans and other non-profit organizations. He has been a presenter of employee benefits topics at several professional and industry-related conferences, a former instructor at Cleveland State University and Cuyahoga Community College, and was named a Super Lawyer in the 2011, 2012, 2020, 2022, and 2023 Super Lawyers Business Edition.
