Mr. Mando, a partner with the Firm, has been practicing employee benefits law for the past ten years. Joe joined the Firm in 2008, and he was promoted to partner in 2014. Joe works tirelessly on behalf of the firm’s clients to ensure the best result possible. Clients and opposing counsel appreciate and respect Joe’s pragmatic nature, knowledge of the applicable laws, and his ability to efficiently find solutions to complex legal problems.

Mr. Mando has substantial first chair experience and he has successfully represented clients in cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, the U.S. Federal District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio and the District of Colorado, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Ohio, the Ohio Sixth and Eighth District Courts of Appeals, as well as in several Ohio Courts of Common Pleas. Joe’s representation in federal and state courts have resulted in the recovery of millions of dollars in delinquent fringe benefit contributions, the issuance of sanctions against opposing counsel, orders compelling arbitration, and orders enforcing arbitration awards. 

Mr. Mando also assists with the firm’s compliance practice. Joe regularly attends trust fund board of trustees’ meetings, prepares plan amendments, counsels trustees on compliance matters involving new and existing laws and regulations, drafts summary plan descriptions and plan restatements, and represents trust funds and trustees in Department of Labor audits/investigations and court proceedings.

Mr. Mando received his BA in philosophy/pre-law from St. Bonaventure University in 2004, where he was a member of the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society and the Mock Trial Team. Joe earned his JD from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 2007, where he received LexisNexis and CALI Awards. He is licensed to practice in all Ohio state courts, as well as the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, the U.S. Federal District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio, and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Ohio. Joe has been included in the 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 Ohio Super Lawyers Rising Stars list.
